Deep Japan : Kappa-bashi Tool Street

Tokyo’s Kappabashi is famous and there are many companies and workshops producing high quality, fun, and decorative items for the kitchen. Kappa-bashi Tool Street is about 800m long located in 10 minutes walking distance from Asakusa and has more than 150 stores relating to kitchen or restaurant. It is well-known as the mecca for plastic pickings. The photo shows example of sample foods made of wax, which you can find in a show-window at the restaurants everywhere in Asakusa.

Since it is right between Ueno and Asakusa, you can then make a detour to Ueno park and Ameyokocho, or head over to the temples and kimono stores in Asakusa.

You can find our Senpai’s recommendations on Kappa-bashi here.

Visitors around the world go on a trip and often experience the top layer of a country and its culture. Particularly in Japan, where the language barrier is significantly more impenetrable than other places, getting under that top layer can be quite a challenge. With a wealth of guide-based information resources available, Jarman International and Zeroin Inc. are creating a brand new website, DEEP JAPAN,  that will take you deeper into the amazing adventure of Japan as a support resource for what is already out there!
