Bio:
Sophie was born in China and came to Japan in 2010. Since 2011, she has been creating content on Chinese social media, operating her own SNS channels and providing SNS-related consulting and advisory services for Japanese local governments and companies.
Currently, Sophie has a combined online following of nearly one million. She creates content in various formats, including articles, short videos, long videos, and podcasts. She also manages a community of nearly 3,000 people, where she chats with community members daily to understand the real-time needs and thoughts of overseas visitors regarding Japan. At the same time, she has experience providing SNS strategy, operation, and content creation services for almost every prefecture in Japan and more than 20 major corporations.
Her creative style is not just about sharing Japanese food and travel; she prefers to explore the social, cultural, and historical elements behind them, and she is dedicated to providing content with depth for her audience.
Favorite Thing About Living in Japan:
Experiencing the newest and oldest things at the same time, in the same city; and the Japanese spirit of Omoiyari—the genuine consideration for others.
Favorite Place to Visit in Japan:
Okinawa: I spent a month living like a local, until my Japanese naturally took on the Okinawan dialect. I love connecting with local communities and truly experiencing their way of life.
Setouchi: I completed the Shimanami Kaido by cycling. The landscape is absolutely stunning!
What Has Kept You in Japan:
Everything in Tokyo.
Favorite Place to Visit Outside Japan:
Barcelona and Istanbul.
What Changes Have You Noticed During Your Time Living in Japan:
Since 2020, Japan has changed from a stable, slow-changing society to a faster-moving one. At the same time, life in China has changed a lot, and the way people in China see Japan has also changed. Because of this, old marketing methods no longer work as well as before. I help brands update their content and strategies to match these new views. For me, connecting these two worlds is not just a job—it is what I love to do.
