This spa was the perfect getaway after long trips I had endured around the whole of Japan. After travelling to Hiroshima, Kyoto and Osaka this place really chilled me out. It is great for many reasons and not just one. The all-inclusive unique hot springs, three different pools, various themed massage/relaxation rooms is what makes this place worth the money and time for the ideal weekend getaway. It is a fantastic tourist destination and the person who wants a break from Tokyo city life. With only an hour and a half away from Tokyo, Shinjuku, Enoshima Island Spa is a very accessible and practical choice which overlooks views to the famous Mount Fuji on a clear day. My favourite pool was the infinity pool, which looks over the sea and the mountains in the back, a rare view indeed. Sometimes it’s just lovely to think and take in your environment and thoughts in a tranquil environment such as this. The pools in the cave were very different and distinctive; I have not seen anything like it anywhere. At night, it really is a spectacular experience that you will take away with you.

The hot springs were definitely something new to a westerner like me, the lovely staff who escorted me around had told me most westerners where apprehensive about entering the hot springs as you must be naked but for the Japanese women this is a very normal. They have a very open, ‘non-phased’ attitude which I admired. I have never been naked with other women before or any kind of environment for that matter and it was a liberating experience. No woman looked at another in a weird, unusual way and was completely normal setting. I was kind of overly joyed when a kind Japanese lady had told me I was beautiful, considering she had seen me naked it was definitely a kind sentiment. I always take a compliment from a woman way more seriously, guess my dieting paid off. The massage was one of the best I have received, the room was filled with lotus flowers and the luxury finish of the rooms were exquisite.

Enoshima Island Spa: Pool Area with View of Mt Fuji

Our “Rotensen” is one of the most popular outside pools at Enoshima Island Spa. You can enjoy Mt. Fuji on a clear day. You will love the ocean air and view of the surrounding greenery, which are said to have active oxygen removing effects.

Next to “Rotensen“, we have “Tourmaline-sen“, where tourmaline stones are laid at the bottom. Negative ions is associated with mood improvements, resistance to stress, and better general health. Tourmaline is a semi-precious mineral stone that has the ability to help aid in the detox process of our bodies.

Since it is an easily accessible location from Tokyo and Yokohama, and it is a natural hot spring resort, I really recommend Enoshima Island for a day trip. Take the trains to Enospa for the fastest route to relaxation from Tokyo strains!

There is no reseravation required for entrance. The regular entrance rate is 2,742 yen and you have access to the Hot Spring, heated pools (don’t forget your bathing suit), relaxation room and sauna. A nice robe and slippers plus towels are included in the plan for your time in the spa. I am sure you will like it there!

*Please note there is a very strict no tattoo policy enforced on site and children over 6 are welcome everyday except Sundays.

The Water Pearl Show at Enoshima Island Spa

Our one-of-a-kind Water Pearl Show will commence at Enoshima Island Spa twice at evening time (Show time: from 7:30p.m. and 8:30p.m., approximately 10 minutes) The Water Pearl Show is a dynamic and romantic blend of light, water and music that mysteriously seems to defy space and time.

The show will be held at the indoor pool area. The beautiful performance will have different themes every time such as “Ocean Rock” and “Floating World”. First you will see the aurora display produced by the world’s first artificial aurora generating device.

We welcome all our guests to come by the 2nd floor pool area for this special presentation and guests can wear spa robes in the pool area to watch the show. Enjoy Enoshima Island Spa’s original special attraction.

Watch the sunset and enjoy the Evening Spa from 7 p.m. for a discounted entrance fee of 2,223 yen for weekdays and 2,742 yen on weekend until we close at 10pm. (Regular entrance fee is 2,742 yen for weekdays and 3,282 yen on weekend during high season of July and August)
